Tibetans Stage Rare Public Protest in Lhasa

Hundreds of Tibetan graduates staged a week-long public protest in Lhasa in late October over alleged discrimination by Chinese authorities in hiring for civil service jobs. No violence was reported and no one was arrested. In response, the authorities announced plans to offer more positions for Tibetans.
