On July 24, Zheng Enchong (郑恩宠) and his wife were placed under house arrest again for seeking to attend Zhou Zhengyi’s trial. Earlier that morning, the couple were forcefully prevented from going to the Shanghai Higher People's Court to apply to attend Zhou's trial. The security guards and police officers knocked Zheng to the ground, battered him and dragged him, leading to serious abrasions to his left hand. The couple were then sent to his sister-in-law's home and were not allowed to leave.
