Detention-Ching Cheong(程翔)
China Charges Reporter With Spying
AP via Yahoonews.com, 05/08/2005
Ching Cheong(程翔), the Straits Times journalist under detention since April, has been formally charged by mainland government with spying for Taiwan, yet the details of further steps were not told.
The official new agency reported Ching ,using the name of "Chen Yuanchun", brought "a great deal of information about China's political, economic and especially military affairs, including some classified as 'top secret' or 'confidential,' and passed it to the Taiwan intelligence," in return, several million of Hong Kong dollars was rewarded.
Taiwan Mainland Affair Council has yet to response to the spying claim.
