Henan AIDS activist Liu Xiaowu was stabbed in the back three times by an unknown assailant on June 15, four days after he complained to the Ministry of Health about health officials profiting from free medicine supplied by the central government. Although the supplement was later allowed to reopen, Li was forced to resign.
