Priests Arrested After Illicit Mass
SCMP, 01/11/2005
A Milan-based religious web site reported that two underground Catholic priests were
taken into custody in Wenzhou on October 27 after they attended a mass with 600
fellow Catholics in celebration of the Year of the Eucharist. Local police refused to comment on the case. The move is considered to be the latest effort of a government crackdown on underground church activities.
