上海访民刘新娟鉴定正常却被送入精神病院 (Shanghai Petitioner Liu Xinjuan Sent to Psychiatric Hospital, Despite Having Been Diagnosed as “Normal”)

After petitioning the authorities in Beijing on resettlement issues, Liu Xinjuan was on her way home to Shanghai when she was picked up by Shanghai police and taken to a psychiatric hospital. While in Beijing, a psychiatric expert had diagnosed her as being “psychologically normal.” This is the fifth time in three years that the authorities have forcibly admitted her to mental institutions.
