On August 16, Zhejiang dissident Internet writer Chen Shuqing (陈树庆) was sentenced to four years' imprisonment by the Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court on charges of "inciting to subvert state power." Chen, also deprived of political rights for one year, said he would appeal. According to his lawyer, the prosecution did not know exactly how many of Chen's articles it had used to indict him.
