According to a news report by Human Rights in China, family members of Three Gorges petitioner Fu Xiancai are being followed and harassed by police. Fu was seriously injured during an attack more than a month ago and is still in hospital slowly recovering. Except for visits from his family, Fu is not allowed to contact others.

Authorities in Yibin County, Sichuan Province have arrested two of a group of individuals who were planning a welcome home gathering for a local rights leader who was recently released from prison named Liu Beixing. Authorities have also summoned a number of the group for allegedly “planning an illegal gathering and demonstrations,” even though the group had no intention of demonstrating. Liu was sentenced to a three-year prison term in 2003 for representing the villagers in a compensation lawsuit.
