19 Killed in Xinjiang 'Terrorist Camp' Raid

Police in Xinjiang destroyed what they say is a terrorist camp run by the pro-independence East Turkestan Islamic Movement on January 5, killing 18 suspects and arresting 17 others. One police officer was killed and another wounded. The East Turkestan Information Centre, based in Germany, said there was no way to verify the police report, but denounced the use of violence in seeking independence.
