Gao Zhisheng (高智晟) was taken away by police on September 22 and his whereabouts is unknown. This happens after he wrote an open letter to the US Congress explaining the inhumane treatment that he and his family have received and condemning China's human rights record. Huang Yan (黄燕), who from time to time has transmitted messages about Gao's family to the public, was also reportedly taken away by state security officers.
