Noted HIV/AIDS activist Hu Jia (胡佳) was released from prison on Sunday; police and security officers surrounded Hu’s home following his release. Hu was imprisoned in 2008 on charges of “inciting subversion of state power.” He was sentenced to a 3.5-year term in prison and one year of deprivation of political rights.
