Food safety activist Zhao Lianhai (赵连海), who was sentenced to 2.5 years’ imprisonment on charges of disturbing social order in November 2010, has been released on medical parole according to a statement posted on his personal blog at Bullog. In his announcement, Zhao states his support and agreement with the Chinese government and that he agrees with the criminal penalties imposed upon him. He also requests that people who are concerned with his case speak of it no further.
